I love my computer, VShadow's been nothing but a faithful piece of Sony equipment that has paid itself several times in terms of durability and overall lack of problems. But let's face the facts...VShadow's around 8 years old give or take some months, edging closer to 9. That's a long time for a computer in these modern ages and how fast things can get outdated.
Yes, poor VShadow is running outdated for some things. I live off photoshop CS2 because CS3 demands too much from the poor thing. I only have 1.2GB of RAM (An upgrade from its original 512MB) So yes, my poor computer is a trooper because it puts up with several RAM demanding programs as art/design programs tend to be. And there in lies a big problem when I'm arting.
I want to make high resolution and quality pictures, specially when I'm doing it for someone else or I'm being paid for it. Unfortunately, the bigger they are, the more it takes on my poor computer's RAM, and with my music and chatting programs on the background, poor thing needs regular breaks (and so do I). So digital works I tend to BS the colors because my usual program can get so memory intensive the more I progress that saving a picture can take more than just a few seconds. Once a piece is at 70% completion, if it's not cell shaded progress becomes slow because I have to save constantly lest I lose progress if the program freezes from how memory intense it becomes, not to mention the more progress it has to update between saves, the longer it takes to process it. When we get to the point I take two or three minutes to save something, it's when I'm pushing a rock up a hill.
In a way it's why I'm sketching more and doing some quick 'doodleage' on SAI, because it's so limited compared to my other programs, it's a relative 'breeze' for my pc. But the limitations are still there, and I am too fond of all the custom tools I've made for my other programs that yeah...I'll never be dropping it.
This means two things. I am slow because I'm forced to be slow (by my computer and recently the ridiculous amounts of power shortages) and because I do my best to put on as much work as I can into these pieces, so it all becomes much slower than I'd would like it. And sometimes, real life just doesn't let me progress as fast since I have other obligations other than sit down and draw. But I'd rather be slow and deliver the very best I can do, than throw in quick shitty stuff to be 'done' fast.
But I think the reality of things is VShadow can only do so much. So until I can afford a new computer (I suppose it'll have to be a Laptop for the sake of 'power cuts') I'll have to continue being slow, I hope you guys understand this. >:
Traditional is so much faster for me XD; My processor runs on pepsi -or apple juice! Anyway, back to work for me. Expect a flood of stuff in the upcoming days either on your inboxes, or posted here.
Watch these awesome Deviants I say! More people to be added soon.
